Thyme uses Plaid to securely link your bank, credit card, and mortgage accounts. We never have access to your login or password credentials nor will we ever ask for them.

Note: In this article, we'll refer to accounts quite frequently. We're discussing any type of account: checking, savings, mortgage, credit card, etc.

Adding Accounts

During the sign up process, you'll be asked if you want to add an account to Thyme. We recommend adding one account immediately, so there's something for you to see when you're in the app!

You can add additional accounts at any time from the bottom navigation bar. On the far right is a plus icon, which allows you to add accounts, properties, and transactions.

A few important notes about adding accounts:

  1. Plaid is the preferred method of adding accounts from registered financial institutions. This enables us to keep the account balances up to date, automatically pull transactions, and import other information (mortgage rates for example).
  2. Not all institutions are supported by Plaid, unfortunately. You can manually create an account in this scenario and also manually add transactions.
  3. Do not add your personal accounts! Yes, you technically can add personal accounts, but it significantly decreases the value you'll get from Thyme. We recommend only linking accounts dedicated to real estate and if they're property specific, that's even better.
  4. When you click "Add From Plaid", sometimes the web page takes a minute to load. Just be patient, it's working hard to get everything setup for you.
  5. Sometimes transactions can take a long time to load. Plaid is gathering the transactions from your institution, then sends them to Thyme when they're all ready. This can take up to thirty minutes (it usually happens in a few seconds though).

Managing Accounts

There are two important aspects to managing accounts.

  1. You can add a property to an account. By clicking on the account, you'll see the "Add a property" button. This will automatically categorize all transactions for this account as related to this property. You should absolutely do this for mortgages. For bank accounts, only do this if they're property specific.
  2. You can delete accounts at any time.
